I. Technology Information Access, Evaluation,

    Processing and Application.

 

Candidates will:

A.       Access, evaluate, and process information efficiently and effectively

B.       Apply information accurately and appropriately

·          Identify, locate, retrieve, and differentiate among a variety of electronic sources of information using technology

·          Evaluate information critically and competently for a specific purpose

·          Organize, categorize, and store information for efficient retrieval

 

 

 

·          Apply information accurately and appropriately to a situation that solves a problem or answers a question

II. Technology Communication

 

Candidates  will:

A.       Use technologies effectively and appropriately

to communicate information in a variety of formats

·          Select appropriate technologies for a particular communication goal

·          Use productivity tools to communicate information

·          Use multimedia tools to communicate information

·          Exchange information, communicate, and interact electronically in an acceptable manner

·          Use telecommunication tools to publish information on-line

III. Legal, Social and Ethical Issues

 

Candidates will:

A. Demonstrate an understanding of the legal, social, and ethical issues related to technology use

·          Define and describe examples of unethical and illegal behavior in a technology environment

·          Analyze advantages and disadvantages of widespread use and reliance on technology in schools, workplace, society as a whole

·          Establish classroom policies and procedures that ensure compliance with copyright law, fair use guidelines, security, and child protection

·          Identify classroom procedures to insure a safe and healthy environment for students using technology

·          Demonstrate legal and ethical uses of technology

IV. Assessment for Administration and Instruction

 

Candidates will:

A. Use data collection technologies and analyze data for instructional and school planning

·          Collect and analyze instructional data electronically

·          Collect and analyze data for school planning electronically

B. Develop assessment tasks and scoring tools that require the use of a variety of media to measure and/or demonstrate achievement of particular outcomes

·          Design a technology based assessment instrument

·          Develop scoring tools

V. Integrating Technology into the Curriculum

 

Candidates will:

A. Use appropriate organization and management strategies to support purposeful student involvement, inquiry, problem-solving and collaboration in technology

·          Use organization tools to manage curricular content

·          Model the use of appropriate technology for organizing and managing classroom instruction

·          Encourage student involvement, inquiry, problem-solving and collaboration

B. Select and design learning experiences that incorporate technology, are curriculum-related, are relevant to learners, and are based upon principles of teaching and learning

·          Evaluate technology materials and media to determine their most appropriate instructional use

·          Use technology tools by practitioners in the discipline

·          Identify and apply best practices for integrating technology into instruction

·          Apply a variety of instructional strategies in the use of technology in the classroom

C. Use technology to address differences in student learning performance

·          Assess students’ learning needs and identify the appropriate technology to meet the needs

·          Use technology to enhance, accelerate and reinforce student performance

VI. Adaptive and Assistive Technologies

 

Candidates will:

A. Use adaptive and assistive technology to address the differences in students’ learning styles and needs

·          Demonstrate the use of assistive/adaptive technology accommodations to facilitate successful educational experiences for students with special needs

B. Enhance curriculum integration through utilization of assistive technology in the classroom

·          Coordinate a variety of accommodations to facilitate the student comprehension and ability to comply with curriculum requirements

VII. Professional Growth

 

Candidates will:

A. Analyze the use of emerging technologies to improve teaching and learning

 

·          Identify sources for information on emerging technologies and their uses

·          Evaluate the efficacy of emerging technologies to teaching and learning

·          Demonstrate an understanding of key issues in emerging technologies and education

 

B. Develop habits of mind that support continual learning and professional growth supported in technology

·          Identify and use resources and materials to support professional growth in the use of technology

·          Participate in professional organizations and groups that support the field of educational computing and technology

·          Identify local, state, and national standards and use them to improve teaching and learning
